Therapy for LGBTQ+ Teens
Affirming and Empowering Support for Queer, Trans/NB, and Questioning Teens
LGBTQ+ teens need a therapist who offers affirming, identity‑safe, and developmentally appropriate support. In my work with queer, trans, and questioning teens, I create a space where you can explore identity at your own pace and choose when, how, and if you want to share aspects of who you are. Your agency is central. Teens deserve a therapist who listens without assumptions and honors the fluidity and complexity of identity.
Therapy provides a validating, nonjudgmental environment where LGBTQ+ teens can talk openly about gender, sexuality, relationships, mental health, school stress, and the challenges of navigating environments that may not always feel safe or supportive. You deserve a therapist who listens without assumptions and honors the fluidity and complexity of who you are. My approach centers affirmation, transparency, curiosity, and respect for each teen’s lived experience.
A Space Where You Don’t Have to Hide Anything
Many LGBTQ+ teens come to therapy with experiences like:
Feeling unsure about labels or identity
Worrying about being misgendered or misunderstood
Stress from school, peers, or social media
Pressure to “be confident” before you’re ready
Feeling isolated or disconnected from others
Navigating friendships or relationships that feel complicated
Dealing with bullying, microaggressions, or unsafe environments
Balancing cultural or family expectations with your own truth
As queer folks, we don’t always have the templates or experiences passed along by our caregivers to guide us in managing these challenges. Therapy gives you a place where you can talk openly about gender, sexuality, relationships, mental health, and the realities of being queer or questioning in a way that is yours and yours alone.
Working With Parents and Families
I also work closely with parents and family members, helping them understand their teen’s identity with compassion, clarity, and evidence‑based guidance. Families learn how to communicate supportively, reduce conflict, and build trust—creating a home environment where their teen feels seen and affirmed.
